Last week, students from Salcantay participated in the Model United Nations held at Villa María. This competition gathered 800 teenagers from over 27 schools in its mission to foment team work, tolerance and global understanding among the youth of Peru.
The Model United Nations Conference is a platform of debate modelled after the negotiations that take place in the different committees of the United Nations. Students act as delegates and represent the interests and policies of assigned countries. The event helps to develop critical thinking, research skills, socio-political understanding, negotiation techniques and conflict resolution.
Our students took Salcantay to a new level of participation in the MUN event with the active role they played: negotiating, debating and drawing up documents. We are quite proud of them.
